i am resurfacing the laser scan for the making of leo DvD. i have it about 50% done, around 1k pollys. i tryed to convert it to SubDs and it did not work, so i think there is a 3 or 5 vert polly somewhere in my mesh. i dont have the time to search each one. so is there a easy way i can have maya select all the faces w/ more or less than 4 verts?

Polygons > Cleanup polygons. Setup it so as it select non-quad faces (or select quad and then you could invert selection to spot non-quad faces). Otherwise, there are many script for this purpose which reinvent the wheel.

There's also:

Edit polygons -> Selection -> Selection Constraints...

This will let you pinpoint tris or n-gons only, amongst a ton of other useful things.

Good tip Brent, I don't often (let say never) use selection constraints.
