Microsoft Acrylic Beta; GIMP post-production work - 60 minutes.
This was a quick fun little sketch testing out the (now usable) pixel layers in Microsoft Acrylic Beta. In the previous release, the program's pixel layers were too sluggish to use... the latest beta release seems to address this. However, when drawing on pixel layers under vector layers the vector lines disappear(!)
The pixel water colors have a nice look to them, and the vector engine is just as excellent as before.

Wow rawwad, that's really cool. I like how you rendered the alien's armor pieces.:)
woox - thanks. I think my perspective of the pavement is wrong though. I just saw it. Oh well. I guess I'll fix it later. I like the mood in your sketch. As for where to find a personal style, just do a lot of experiment(daily sketch is a good place to do so). My teacher also said a good way to come up with a personal style is taking what you like from your favourite artists' styles and combine them to make your own.
amy_517 - Your sketch reminds me of when I was little. I couldn't tell the difference between vanilla ice-cream and coconut ice-cream because of the similarity in colors.
Moonlit Matt - very cool sketch! I should learn Flash...
Great stuff everyone.

Yup, that chris cunningham. He does that window licker music video, but I was actually refering to his "Come to daddy" music video (which has some similar themes of using his face on other characters)... and the title of your sketch "ice ream for daddy" and the look of his face put that together for me.
VERY creepy, hehe.

Yeah, that's what nabbed me too :.(
I really love this topic.
Stevaan - I like your style! Don't know why you said only crap comes out of your wrist?...
Raawd - incredible idea and incredible execution. bravo!
Harrison - creepy is right! That reminds me of a time when I was about 4 or 5 years old and my mom gave me a $20 bill to go buy some icecream from the ice cream man. I actually didn't get any change back. I came home with the ice cream and my mom asked me where's the change (should've been like $18.50 change) and I didn't know what to say. I didn't know I was supposed to get change and didn't really understand money at the time. Can you believe some a** hole ripped off a 4 year old? Bad memories... But I love ice cream still! ;)

They're all good!
There's something I'd like to say
Lady Medusa: Great painting. Good job on the t-shirt and the eyes - well everything fits nicely. His left forearm seems really dark like it’s missing a highlight but his bicep and legs are not
Moonlit Matt: I’ve been noticing your work around beautiful stuff! Love the scarf… everything has such a nice sense of motion. His silhouette made me do a second look at his right leg but I guess he’s just hanging a hard left. Checked the website that multi plane zoom is great hand painted too wow loved the clouds
Overchord: rough
Alice: “but it’s me first” oh no “but it’s mine first”? meh this isn’t the grammar dailies. Great use of structure. I always try to push the closer eye bigger it would great on her!
Pipichu: wow nailed another one! What brushes do you use? Kidding… great concept, texture and hydrant. The sidewalk line doesn’t fit with the persp if that’s what that horiz line is.. the icecream shop and the car fit though. Good work
Woox: nice silhouette and lighting! That is all…
Rawwad great mood, the mist the lighting the four legged alien all rendered very well.
DreamMaster: I love how you throw things down and work with it beautiful atmosphere – bang up job
Hcross: Love the arm hair, I would of put one in the icecream. Yep those venders are creepy.. are you a concept artist for Rockstar with those icecream trucks in GTA?
great work everyone

MattVogt: Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I'm trying to learn flash right now, and using this forum as a means of testing my ability to illustrate in such a limited program. My website is so damn out of shape right now though. Hopefully next break I have I can polish it up and finally put some stuff up there that has been done in the last year! =P

VERY creepy, hehe.
"his face" is Richard D. James' (a.k.a. Aphex Twin), not Chris Cunningham's
