ne, Wilky-san.... maybe you'd like to do more research on crustaceans maybe? cos he doesn't really look... well, crustacean-ish enough... He looks more like a squid or octopus to me... And we can work on the purple color... :p but iz a good attempt...

look up images of crabs... get a better idea of other sea creatures with shells, like lobsters or prawns... then imagine your character again... crustaceans have distintive features (shell, claws, eyes on stalks) and colorings that you can use in your character design. Use these, warp them here and there and see what you get :D doing variations of one design will also help. Gives you a broader view of things and posibilities you may have overlooked the first time you designed this character.

Wishing you luck! :D Hope to see more work from you, ne!
And sorry that I didn't notice this thread before.. keep it up! :D

well, if you cant find tutorials on 'how to make sea creature skin', then you just gotta do it yourself. Trial and error (like what you've been doing). Look at photos, other peoples drawings of sea creatures... Anything that can help. And think of how you can mimic those pictures...

Make it up as you go along basically. But with research. thats what i do sometimes, too... :D
