View Full Version : character climbing and descending stairs
Nurbguy 08-30-2005, 08:32 PM i'm having a little trouble with a bit of animation that has a simple rig (the ball with legs u can download off the internet) My aim is to have it walk up a simple set of steps, walk across a platform and descend some steps on the other side. My problem is timing on each step the character takes, i've tried 8 frames per step and 12 frames per step but i cant seem to get the right flow to it. any tips out there on animating a character walkin up steps?

Hey, not too bad at all (apart from the ballie character! hehe, seen too much of him!!! :) ).
Ok, first step. Shift the weight, you really need that in to sell that action better. For every step you really need to add that weight shift in more. I would also rotate the hips a bit more, and at the moment the timing seems really even, so that could be something to look at.
Once all that's sorted out, check out the arcs, as they could do with some refinement.
Overall it's looking really nice, but it just needs a few things more to really push it to the next level! Hope that helps out some.
