Ok is this a case of bad make up or what?

Can anyone tell me how to fix this and what has caused it?

I am not having much luck in modeling anything other than box houses right now. :-)

looks like you unwelded the points.
hit "m"
also looks like you have some large sided polygons.
you'll need to split those up, select and "T"

Some mantras to recite to yourself for the next few days:
- w w w Must watch the stats and I can if I press w
- 4 or 3 or 4 or 3 or 4 are good numbers for my polys to have... all other numbers are ugly on my polys

Thank you for that. Hope people will like my singing as I go around stamping that into the few brain cells I have.

Busy slicing and dicing everything to bits. Should have it sorted soon.

Maybe one day I can follow a tutorial without having problems.

Its all a process of learning. You gotta start someplace and you will make strange mistakes. The manual is good, the manula is powerful, the manual teaches all.
The manual also takes awhile to get through and if you are like me I like jumping right. Try some of the tuts at on the NT site (which I just found out is currently down) or in the mean time get Dan Ablan's LightWave 7 book. Yum - good stuff.
