View Full Version : Mentalr Ray Area Light question

HI! I need to create an MR for maya 7 area light having a specific shape, in the mr area light attributes i can choose few shapes,one of these is "user".As i can see in the maya guide (pressing the magic key F1:) ) it seems that this allows me to use a geometric shape to emit light..but how do I tell maya to use that (polygonal?) shape?

A friend of mine told me about a francesca luce's shader called "light_ctrl" or something similar ,that makes objects emit light..where can I find it?(if you don't know how to use the "user" area light..)

a user mr area light is not what you are looking for.
user area lights are those lights that rely to custom
shader to get their things[..]

Oh francesca!!i downloaded your plugin!but i can't use it..I have maya 7 and i follow the instructions but it doesn't work,instead if i open the template scene that you put into the zip file everything works.but the shader seems not to be connected to the object as geoshader..

uhm do you speak italian?

se si,potresti spiegarmi bene come funziona il tuo shader?
seguo le istruzioni ma non riesco a farlo funzionare..però sembra che sia istallato bene perche aprendo la scena di esempio che c'è nell'archivio zip tutto funziona e nel render la molla emette luce..nelle istruzioni c'è scritto di connettere lo shader al modello poligonale come geometry shader ma nella scena di esempio non sembra connesso..

come mai?

dove potrei aver sbagliato?
