wow you have untill friday, it depends if you have everything already made, and set up i think you could do it, since rigging and modeling take up the most time. (and rendering)
but good luck and hope you can finish in time.

:D
The perfect plot for your submission:
The fight to complete a 2 Minute Film Challenge Within 48 Hours!
Fast-paced camera cuts and manuvers showing you punching away at the keys on the keyboard and wiggling around the mouse... drinking liters of Mountain Dew mixed with Expresso shots. Frantic pace and music stop to zoom in on your monitor after 40 seconds or so, showing a two second clip of a solid blue ball falling onto stage, bouncing twice, and rolling to a stop. A faux rolling credits scrolls upwards at a very fast rate, showing at least a thousand participants that had made this nearly 1 minute film.
 Hmmm... maybe I should enter now.
I wish you the best of luck, man! If not complete, hope to see your stuff in the next challenge.

Whoa! That was really weird! I loved it! Great work! What 3d application did you use? Good job on the towel/cloth simulator too! I hope to see more of you around here in the future!
thanks for the help, zakkos:)

eh eh, you know better safe than sorry
in this case your work is extremely good! Very good editing and lighting and modelling and etc etc. For me it just lack somewhere in the script but this is ok since the short time you had to make it. You surely have an eye for directing and composition. Hope to see more from you.

cheers to all :)
i used mostly maya, after effects and some healthy faking (backplates, patchups, masking, pop-through animation).
maya was first used to create all the elements (backgrounds, characters, shadows, particles and cloth). Next the animation was rendered using only a single pass and then four separate alpha pass's to pull each of the characters out enabling independent adjustments with minimal rendering time.
All rendering was calculated using the "maya software" renderer. this didn't allow for any kind of global illumination or fancy algorithms that renderers such as "mentalray" have, so it was faked by masking a blurred copy of the background plate and layering it over the character/element (so just along the edges are "painted" with the adjacent colour on the background plate) gave a global illumination feel as well as integrating the element more smoothly into the environment. An array of shadow map lights gave a pseudo-occlusion pass and quadratic lighting realistic gradations along the geometry.
Because the cloth resolution was so low errors in the forms of popping and penetrating were a serious distraction. holding frames and patching were used to smooth over of the problem frames without having to resolve and render. matching colours within after effects was a much easier and more interactive task rather then trying to achieve it as one pass within maya. As long as the camera's stayed locked down and consistent through out the pass's, there were fewer headaches and much greatly flexibility. i could then darken just the shadows on one hand, blur the background in a dof style or animate the lighting on just the cloth.
