Title: Prey
Name: D. Yee
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

Revised: Worked on the white bird in her hand and the overall lighting of the image. I noticed on other monitors the birds were a bit flushed out.
"Prey" is created for the Exotique call-for-entry. I'm playing with the idea of two birds (female - black, and male - white).
Vulnerable and almost gullible he falls into her enchanting and seductive beauty, and so does the white birds. She plays with them like a toy, dressing it by plucking out its pure white feathers while forcing it with her own black feathers.
The lighting is primarily focused on her face, then gradually fades as you look below. The black birds meld into the dark background, creating an illusion of shadows coming to life.
The white bird left remaining gazing up at the female is placed there for balance of overall composition. I felt there was just too much darkness going on that something white, or lighter, should be placed in that area to balance everything out.
Any last minute two-cents are welcomed, otherwise I'll send it off. Thanks!

its hard to tell what the male "bird" is wearing/doing. I didnt read your explanation because i feel hte pic should tell for itself

is he wearing a white "tunic" and black pants?

Then, I should let the picture tell for itself. Most of my work isn't impairative to one telling. ;) I like letting the spectator do his/her own telling sometimes.

The guy isn't weating anything specific, but you can call it a tunic. Black pants yes, but it's really her dress that covers the overall bottom of the painting.

He has his arm clasped around her right leg. Should I lighten it up? My monitor seems to show it fine unless it's dying from old age!

i like it.
nice concept, i like the style aswell.
some anatomy problems here and there, for example the arms and hands of the girl, are way too massive, more like a guy ones.

but still,its good one :)

I agree that the shoulders, arms and hands look too masculine. The concept, color, posing and light are really cool.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I'll slim her arm down. Now that I see it is a bit too masculine. Maybe she's been working out a bit too much? ;)

I'll most likely post revised version of this particular piece.
