Title: Prey
Name: D. Yee
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop
Revised: Worked on the white bird in her hand and the overall lighting of the image. I noticed on other monitors the birds were a bit flushed out.
"Prey" is created for the Exotique call-for-entry. I'm playing with the idea of two birds (female - black, and male - white).
Vulnerable and almost gullible he falls into her enchanting and seductive beauty, and so does the white birds. She plays with them like a toy, dressing it by plucking out its pure white feathers while forcing it with her own black feathers.
The lighting is primarily focused on her face, then gradually fades as you look below. The black birds meld into the dark background, creating an illusion of shadows coming to life.
The white bird left remaining gazing up at the female is placed there for balance of overall composition. I felt there was just too much darkness going on that something white, or lighter, should be placed in that area to balance everything out.
Any last minute two-cents are welcomed, otherwise I'll send it off. Thanks!
