Hi All =)

I wanted to try and get in to making weapons for games. I really like the wepons designs / models for Killzone, Halo and Halflife etc. and would really like to do something similar so set to concepting and making a 3D rifle for my portfolio.

Here is the basic model and concpet sketch I made for it, strangely in that order:

I'm not totally happy with it because I don't really know where to go next to finish it off and how to present it so please rip it to shreds.

Hey man that looks pretty good so far, i like the new update of the model that you started texturing, I think that it could use some more spec. Keep at it.

Thanks guys =). I will try and tweak the specular and spec highlight next.

I was thinking about displayig it hanging on a wooded board on a wall but it's not very futuristic is it? Maybe some kind of crate or millitary storage... hmm

Poly count is about 180,000, a bit waistful but it doesn't have to be low.

Hi Quadpatch,

Those have to be the best scratches I've seen to date on a model. Most people over do the weather effect of metal it doesn't look natural, but these textures are amazing. I love the detail around the switches.

Great job!

Looks good. But the grip seems like it would either not be comfortable or not accomodate a hand. The sketch looked like it had it right. I think the opening got too rounded and narrow.

Mustan9: Thanks for the kind comment concerning the scratches, I want to add them to the other parts of metal and although they wont show up so much on the plastic too.

isolated vertex: You have a good point about the grip, it may well be uncufortable for the base of the thumb.
