I was looking over the pdf tutorials from the great Steven Stahlberg and noticed he uses lofting and skinning, which Lightwave does not have, so I was wondering what the LW users and great modelers think about this type of modeling

He produces some stunning masterpieces with this approach

read that like 4or5 years ago, great lofting/nurbs tutorial, but its time is gone.
if you want to do something similar, use splines.

Those tuts appear to be written for alias. Alias used NURBS which are a real pain to work with. The fact that Steve can model a torso by lofting is more of a testament to his artistic abilities then to how great the technique is. There are far easier methods for modeling organic shapes.

Yeah, Nurbs modeling for characters is something of a past. However, the rest of the stuff like skin, hair, lighting is a good read to me though. Thanks for the link.

Ya, I realize this was an older approach. I just wanted to see what others thought about it
