WOW. Hats off to you, that is some of the best character animation I've seen in awhile. Great lighting too. What software did you use? I've wanted to do some dance animations for some time now, this is incentive...

Funny you should say that, I actually had to mocap myself during a project in Montreal. So initially it was mocap. But this is all biped. The mocap came in on a set of bones that couldn't be cleaned or brought over to character studio, so I had to reanimate the whole thing, make it cyclable, etc.

I don't know, your name sounds familiar. But I lived in montreal most of my life. I studied at Inter-Dec College, worked at Ubisoft, TVA, and now here in Toronto. I'm heading back to Montreal in march.

Pis toi?

Yeah Jeff, if you look at her left hand, it hits the pants while coming forward... oh well. Thanx for the comment. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it. That max file doesn't exist anymore. I lost my backup during my move (ugh!).

It's ok, Aya's gonna be a lean, mean, fighting machine. She's my avatar.:p

That's a very nice animation. Modelling looks good and I love the fuzzy top she's wearing. The only thing I would do different is getting rid of those lensflares. They just seem to obscure the model and are not very realistic.
Other than that, perfect!

Sweet animation! It was all so smooth. Outstanding job.

You used to work at Ubisoft. What projects/games did you work on there? (Sorry I love video games, had to ask)

emilioG
11-05-2002, 07:21 PM
oh god!

Cinematics for batman Vengance (ps2, GC), Donald duck goin' quackers, The JungleBook Rythm and Groove. Last one I worked on was Splinter Cell (character rigging and Map coordinates). Mikey11 worked on the cinematics too!

Props to Mikey11!

Hey EmilioG,

Very nice animation , great work , keep it up .

I have a question for you too, I noticed on the girls shirt , the hair on the shirt looked as though it was reacting to her movement.

Was the hair actually reacting to the girls movement ?

Is this a function available in shag hair ? I have Shag fur but there are no settings that I know of which would allow this sort of reaction , only way I can think to do this with fur is to animate the vectors .

:applause: :applause: :applause:

emilioG
11-13-2002, 12:41 AM
Yes, the hair moves. it's on her shirt (cloth)
Shag: Fur is obsolete in my eyes, considering that I haven't found anything i would do with it instead of shag hair.

but you could do what I did to her shirt with shag fur, only it wouldn't have dynamics, which shag hair does.

Take note that long hair is a bitch with shag: hair... unfortunately. strands are ok, but a full set of hair THAT MOVES, I haven't seen it yet. I did it on a shot per shot basis for Kaena: The prophecy( which should come out sometime this millenium!!!)... but that was, again, a complete bitch! ugh! :shame:

Hope that helps!

Bring it on!

Awesome model and the lighting is great too. I'm not a big fan of photorealistic human characters, but this one seems to combine cartoonish with realistic. Love the style.
