CGTalk - Negative light

I have searched the forums for several times and never found a walktrough/tut or any hints on how to create a negative light in c4d allthough i found several users using and reffering to them. Also my babeling arround the light settings in c4d took me towards no result either. By negative light i mean a light that will darken any surface it hits or any object that is specifically included in it's Assign tab.

If anyone can shed some "positive" light in this particular subject as i think it's a very rare discussed topic for what a great potential it has.

And now i feel like a moron that i posted this thread because i found out that the mistake i was making was editing the Brightness slider on the "General" tab when instead i should have had modified the Brightness field on the "Details" tab.

20 forumsearches won't do as much as a c4dmanual search.
