Hello everyone!

I am overseeing a project for typical animation/postpro pipeline management
for distributed collaborators over the web. We are in an early phase and are looking
for input and maybe people that want to help out with programming.

I wanted to inquire if there is a general interest among the viewers of this forum to take
a look and give some ideas (which can obviously be specific to your needs :) )

The projects is (and will remain) free and open-source.

Best,
yp

Once it's in a beta format our team would be happy to put it to a test. ..we may be able to give some input on practical items and usability for a team like ours. PM me if you like ;)

The Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project could use software to help coordinate multiple pipelines and give instant feedback about status. It could indicate people waiting for input, material waiting for assignment, and in our case the software to be used in each step and its owner.

Anyone enrolled in the project could look at status and volunteer (or ask to be reassigned) to step into a critical path (as long as they have the appropriate software). Also in our case we have an absolute deadline so it would be nice to indicate how long a task took and time estimates for tasks not yet started.

Hi silver6161, you sould also consider how to manage assets flowing between different software toolkits - in our case Lightwave, Maya, max(i think) and Motionbuilder to name a few.

Hello donSole,

as the system will be web-based we will not actually store assets.

As a shot producer you will be concerned about the data format flowing
in and out of a specific subtask of a scene specification ( Maya -> Motionbuilder in Modelling and Animation )
and therefore specify data format and application.

Is there any important information about data formats that you think should be at a higher point in the project hierarchy than the shot breakdown?

Thank you for your input

Hey silver, I tried a few times, but your Wicki pass is not working for me

I was able to get in as guest today and I looked at what you have. Is the idea I'm supposed to organize the forms to the format that I would find useful? Why are you limiting this to postproduction? I know I'm going to have a real "interesting" time when I'm close to deadline and I'm wondering where in the web are those missing 2500 rendered frames that I need right now. So that will be useful. But even during production I have to keep track of assignments and progress. Pre-production is simultaneous with production in a volunteer project because it is hard to attract volunteers when all you have is a dream. Recruting is a big issue when you have a fixed deadline.
