Hello all. Using max, what in your opinion would be the best way to model and texture a golf course for use in a game? I messed a bit with grid patches last night and figured out how to create a patch and work with surface lines, but could not figure out how to "cut out" the areas where the textures would need to have very smooth edges (transition from fairway to rough, transition from green to fringe, sand to rough, etc.). My idea is to cut all the areas that will need to be textured differently and detach/export as separate objects, then apply the textures as tiled textures in my game editor. I have searched a good deal for an answer, but came up with nothing and appreciate any advice or direction anyone can give.
