Have you seen how much the bundles cost! Geez! I'm going to Walmart, or Target to get the system by itself...the bundle is just to rich for my blood.

Has MS said what games will be backwards compatible yet? I'm assuming Halo and Halo 2 are on that list...

My Xbox picked an excellent time to crap out, with a new one on the horizon... lol

Stores has been taking pre-orders since forever around here, too bad the games are expensive as hell, don't even want to think about the prices in "non-gaming" stores, they're usually around 20-30% more expensive there. Cheapest game I've found is $78 usd, getting close to cartige prices :(

Bundles start at $699.91. *whistles*

It comes with 5 games, but I don't have the time to play 5 games. Guess I better start Ebay-ing some stuff.

peace,

I decided not to get an XBox, but I'm going to be getting an 360, I'm hoping prices will drop a little after Christmas and I want to wait until it supports both of the HD-DVD formats, which as I recall, I read somewhere. When you consider that it will double as a next gen DVD player as well, the price isn't to bad, assuming it doesn't spike with the updated one. I still think my professor would flunk me if I designed that power button without a bevel on it :D

who is going to spend over $1000.00 for a bundle. Wow. Hasn't anyone heard of renting games? Thats a ton of cash. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but really, dropping $1000.00?
Well.....it is the system that will let you play the next piece of art from Bungie! So I'll definitly be going with a core setup.

Take it from me ...

XBox 360 games are AVERAGING $60 ... however, there are a few listed in my computer at work for $50 (Kameo, Proj. Gotham 3, Perfect Dark Zero)

It is no surprise that these titles are being bundled on the internet sites.

ALSO, please be aware that those bundles are only being forced upon consumers who purchase the system from the WEBSITE, not in the store.

That may change as at EB Games we have bundled systems in the store in previous years.

ALSO, the final ship date listed in my computer is Nov. 2nd ...

Another funny thing is that I also have about 8 or 9 MAJOR PS2 listed for release on that very same day (True Crime 2, From Russia w/ Love, Battlefront 2 ...)

EB forces bundles on people in the store, and I expect they will do this with the 360 and the PS3 until the demand subsides. When I got a PSP they were only selling it as a bundle in the store, I ended up having to buy a game (which I've never played) and a movie and a memory card I didn't want, plus a bunch of other cheap crap; it was like 150 CD more than had I just got the system I wanted. The reason why they do this is because the retailer only makes a couple dollars if anything selling you the hardware and MS or Sony actually takes a loss on it. So, since MS and the Retailer each make 7-12 dollars on each of the games they sell, they are going to force you to buy as many games as possible including a couple that almost no one in their right mind would buy. They don't want what happened with the Xbox happening here. Everyone runs out and gets an Xbox and Halo or DOA while thousands of copies of Fusion Frenzy and Cel Damage sit on sotre shelves unsold, and MS has to wait years before they actually start making money because they have to average 10 games per Xbox sold before they make up for the hit they took on the hardware, and they are only averaging 1.5 games sold per console because the games they shipped initially are all crap. So this is their solution, make their customers buy as many games up front as possible so they can make their money back faster. They know people out there are going to blindly put up with this because it's the coolest new thing and they have to have it. It's bullshit and there should be a law protecting consumers from these sort of tactics. Can you imagine if you went to the store to get, I dunno, diapers for your kid and they tried to force you to buy a bundle with talcum powder, wet wipes, and chewing gum? You wouldn't stand for it.

The other thing that really bothers me about this is that there are going to be responsible parents out there who want to get this system for their children for Christmas, and these stores are going to force them to buy MRated games.

Thankfully some of the larger stores are so important to MS's bottom line that they can't be bullied into foisting this sort of crap onto their customers.

There has been talk about HD-DVD support, not Blu-Ray, not as far as I recall anyway.

Nope. Its just a far superior choice over hd-dvd.

Read up here: http://www.blu-ray.com/

As far as the 360 goes though, save your money, once the PS3 comes out its toast. The PS2 still outsells the XBOX 2:1 (even with a serious hardware disadvantage) in the US and the XBOX in Japan is a joke. Once they have taken the hardware disadvantage away (and then some) its will be pretty damn hard for MS to compete.

i wouldnt hold my breath waitin for a sony format to make an appearance on a MS product.

between betamax, DCC, minidisc, sacd, the universal media device, mediaMV... they dont exactly have the best track record :)

It's inevitable. The largest movie studios have already thrown their hats in with Sony because they know 3 years from now there will probably be 70 million homes around the world with PS3s sitting under their HDTVs. MS is pretty much going to have to jump on this bandwagon whether they like it or not. Even Toshiba tried to talk with Sony about incorporating some of their HD-DVD technology into the Blue Ray format because they know HD-DVD is a lost cause.

If that's the case then there won't be HD-DVD support either since it's almost a crappy as DVD, and that wouldn't count as next-gen, now would it?

Once they have taken the hardware disadvantage away (and then some) its will be pretty damn hard for MS to compete. The reason people bought a PS2 over an Xbox was because PS2 had a bigger number of games in their library. Since the Xbox360 is launching a full 6-12 months ahead of PS3. Xbox will have many more games, of better quality.

Can you prove that? The xbox has been out for awhile now and theres still barely a handful of games that I would spend my money on.

If you were a developer would you use the system that youve been using(in this case XBOX 360) for the past 6-12 months and know it well or work with brand new technology, using a brand new more expensive format to deliver the game?

HVD is the next-gen format.

And XB360 isn't next-gen, neither is the PS3, and neither the XB720 nor PS4.. small upgrades.., dunno how one could consider more than a 100% upgrade as small. oh well.

As for the "most titles win".. devs already have kits, they don't wait for the retail release... I would say PS2 and Xbox had the same amount of crap if you go by percent, most of the crap was by crossplatformers like EA imo.

most games will be out on every system... its those "exclusives" that sway people.

also, i think the 360 has a better online presences and media capabilities over what Sony is and will be offering for their systems.

got my 360 preordered and can't wait to play some 50+ player Perfect Dark while i listening to my own mp3s streaming from my pc! weeeeeeeee!

People gave that same arguement during the last console war. What ended up happening? Many developers started porting their games to every system.

Thats maddness, they must have forgot that the US is going through a Inflation. Better yet they're adding to it. I'll by the 360, but i'll buy it by its dam self.

too many sony lovers in here... drives me crazy....

live play on ps3 will suck...

its coming out in at least 8 months, and im not gonna be such a stubborn A-hole as to wait that long to play nextgen.
xbox360 is cheaper. duno where u guys are getting ur prices from, but in UK there are 2 packs priced 209.99 without 20gb HD and with WIRED pad, or 279.99 with HD and WIRELESS pad. To me that is cheap as ****ing chips to get a next gen system for 210 on release day is remarkable... MS are providing so much for us gamers and sony lovers spit in their faces.

360 adopters are gonna have liveplay out of the box and have next gen for the next year, while foolish sony lovers are gonna sit around twiddling their thumbs just HOPING and still talking rubbish about how they think PS3 is gonna dik all over xbox.... And then theyll see that the developers have just crossed platformed everything anyway, so it doesnt matter which console you have....

and watch how xbox drops to 140 odd pounds or less when the PS3 hits the shelves.... how can u compete with that? Who in their right minds would spend the 350 sony will have to sell it at??....

anyway thats enough for now, i got plenty more though....
