Is there any way to make the thumbnail different from the entry image? That's the only way I can do it for that entry, otherwise I'll have to re-render things.

VEry nice!! I love the layout.
I am just a little confused though, I can't find all the entries? Is this a first come first win sort of thing, or are the votings going to commence once all the entries are in?? Is this just a test, are the scores going to be erased and begun annue??

erilaz,
Put in black borders on your image in the right proportions to get the right ratio for the thumbnail image to fit right. Your image won't be messed up then.

The way that we intend on running each challenge is to have a set period for each activity:
1) Announce challenge
2) Accept entries/modifications (4 week timeframe/depends)
3) Entries close, voting starts
4) Close and challenge post-mortem/winners
Right now, we're taking in both entries and votes to clear out the backlog from the old challenges. I am also in the process of debugging the website and adding new functionality over time.

Yes we'll have animation challenges. But one thing at a time. First priority is to settle the website and the way the challenges are conducted online.

Leonard -- Hey, thanks, but I get it now, it's a different system. We get to rate everyones with a one to five number, pretty neat!! So basically, no matter when we enter, everyone will vote on ours with the appropriate score. CoooOL.
just wondering though, the classic challenge was usually split up into two sections. Character and Vehicle/environment. Do we have to label it ourselves or will there be a title later on?

No the new sections will be created for the upcoming challenges, right now as Leo said, priority is to clear the backlog of the old challenges up,. then we can start the new ones.
I'll be posting the rules for the new challenges tonight my time, right now it's 3am in the morning here :surprised

See if "CTRL + F5" works - that forces a refresh in case your ISP is caching the webpage.

Great looking site. Really like the little scroll in the top menu among other nice touches.
A few ideas. Would be great if we could upload a separate thumbnail to acompany each image. A portion or cutout of the larger image makes for a far more interesting thumb then just a shrunk image.
Another thought would be to have the ability to add a link to a full screen picture (~500k). That we would host ourselves.
Great work guys.

Another small thought.
The ability to vote on your own creation is somewhat absurd. Maybe there is a reason, but I think it should be removed.

Yes, I did have a think about that.
If politicians can vote for their own party, then likewise shouldn't we allow artists to score their own creations?
I don't think it'll make much difference but am interested in hearing what people have to say.
L.
I suppose everybody will put 5 stars to its own creation....
I admit I did it :D why shoudn't I ?!?
so it's not a big deal, U take all the scores and substract 5...so in fact it doesn't change a lot...
except for the poor who won't have any vote...he'll have 5 points at least.... (bad baby bad baby) :wip:
it's good to autocongratulate yourself when U spend time on something  ;) :p

As long as everyone has just one vote(on each entry) and not multiple votes ,it's a democratic system, even if you can vote for yourself.
So i'm all for it.
:)
I don't think self voting will have much of an effect on anything...what harm is one vote anyway :)
People who get all their friends and relatives to vote for them are more of a worry, hehe.

finally :)
very nice site, fast interface, nice layout etc, etc.. to sum it up, _great_ work!
I think you should have waited at least 24hours for everyone to submit their final images though. it would have been more fair after all the hard work ppl have spent on their images.
and another idea, it would be much easier if you could choose the score for everyone and then just push _one_ button to submit all those scores at once. instead of having to do it one by one.
anyway, finally :)

Im not sure what the id represents which decides how the submissions are ordered by at the moment, but its good for the voting stage.
I was wondering, Will the submissions be ordered by their score or score average after voting is closed so that we can see them all in order ?

By default it sorts by the latest update - so that when you return to the challenge, you can see what new or updated entries are in.
This also assists in voting because there is no bias. But of course, there is a sort by score option so that people can see how the challenge results are faring.

A few requests:
1. At the voting page for each challenge, there's the links to open up a new browser to see a bigger version of the images. Well shouldn't it be easy to make it so the new browser is resized to fit the opened image?
This isn't that important.
2. The same place, and the same button(s). Could you please make it so each time a new window is opened, it would be it's own window? What I mean is, like if you now press the link of one image, and then some other, the second image get's loaded in the same window, instead of yet again new window.
VERY important! ;)

actually the correct 4:3 resolution would be 1280x960 - not x1024
..nitpicking, but you want it to look tidy, right ? :D
btw: it's just awesome
one little crit: i think the average score is more important than the score 'number', or how about a mix of the too that takes both into account ?
but well, the score doesn't really matter much anyway imo, it would just make more sense that way

i think it doesn't need any major change, but the 150k limit! i think it's too small for most of the entries, if it was 200, 250k... i can't post any image smaller than 1280x1024! i really can't deal with low resolution pics, also i can't judge on small-sized renders of others. :p ( though i've 56k modem connection)

Excellent job on the site! I like how it's organized and it's easy as hell to post up your entries. Awesome work guys!
One thing I noticed though - if you update one of your entries or post entries in the wrong order, then your gallery entry will be off. My gallery entry says my last challenge entered was "Beast of Burden" when it should be "Extreme Sport". Maybe you can order these automatically somehow to solve this problem?
