THE PLEDGE / 7 Sketches, 7 days (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=268386)

And before people ask, of course you can post without joining the pledge.

_________________________________________________

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.

* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!

This was a toughy. If it's hard to understand, I was going for an angle of robot starting out as a caveman. A little obscure I guess...

It is a bit of a cliche but i just went for it mostly for anatomical reasons, as an exersice. I might paint it, too. BUt I'm ill today at home and I need a break from pcs..arghhh..
I used references and I dont know about 2h on and off photoshop and wacom graphire..sigh i miss my intuos wacom from work.
so there ya go: female Robin..a Hood. lol

Whoever you used for reference could use some help--she's going to whack her cheek and/or lips and nose, and her bow arm is going to have one helluva bruise very soon. That's going to be fun to see. :D Poor Robina Hood...

Anyways, good line work. You've only shown what is really necessary and it feels quick and messy like any good sketch should.

AnimZiggy
08-24-2005, 04:30 PM
ha ha ha...i think i know what u mean... i just saw it... the direction of the bow is completely wrong, right? I will try to fix it. I didn't use specific reference...perhaps that's why..had a look on a couple of robin hood pics and bows :( and then my own hands...
thanks for the crits :D

http://img288.imageshack.us/img288/9043/reversedroles20pb.jpg

I prefer this one to my last one. More fresh and painty. About 1 hr (PS)

kaylon: Beautiful highlights. Love the concept! :D
-Brittany-: I'm really loving your work. You bring out really strong characters.
anim_ziggy: Great sketch. The pose is quite decent. I know the pain of going backwards from a comfy intuous to a titchy graphire, so I feel for you!

AnimZiggy

thanks Erilaz, I like yours too very funny the revenge if the weak ones lol.. I think my next invenstment will be an intuos... Btw I just saw how wrong is the right arm... and the left one too...needs to be more bend..

thanks for the crits :DWell, she's drawing with four fingers--that's a no-no. Her bow arm is bent--another big no-no. The string should be just about in the middle of her face to help her aim--right now it's going to slide along her cheek and whack her nose, very unpleasant.

Drawing somebody who's doing archery is never a good thing to do around me; I'll tear it to bits without even thinking about it. It's even worse in person. :)

Painter IX.. 40 min (yes I finally paid attention to the time!). It's about boats flying in the sky when it's supposed to be SAILING on the water. Not very original, but I'm surprised nobody did it yet so I had to do it.

75 minutes; Wacom, OpenCanvas/GIMP

Someday, it is possible that I would have to drag my dog to dinner...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/gauntman/sketch/sketch445.jpg

anibal187 - very unique concept! Ripples in the tiles really help convey the sense of being underwater

Martin_B - I like the surprise of the vampire; good pallete work

DreamMaster - haunting background; You might try making the outlines of the ship more subtle, or paint overthem completely (but leave the lines in the rigging);

Oscen - love the characters, and B/W makes it seem like an old cartoon.

Cyanid - good compositon and action lines; Not sure where the other arm is on Goliath, but only a minor quibble. Colors are well chosen as well.

Hexaditidom - funny! lots of nice details, and I would hate to commute, if I had to help carry the bus...

doomdragon - subtle glow in moon and stars; good work on the bunny's eyes; Santa suit looks plush. another nice sketch.

This is where I finally fell off of the pledge. My daughter got sick, so I had to put this aside. However, I wanted to place the last one I was working on up. I reflected my favorite scene out of the first “Spider-man” movie. It's where Spider-man has caught the cable car, and the Goblin comes around to gloat about how helpless Spider-man made himself. Then the Goblin finds out that New Yorkers don't like you picking on their friendly neighborhood super heroes.
