Like so many others, I was finding this one difficult too. Eventually, I came up with the idea of airplane nose art. I'm not real happy with it, but I have made it past the hump for the pledge.

Painter IX for painting and Photoshop CS for SUBTLE texturing on it. 1 hour and 15 min or 30 min. Wasn't paying attention to the time. I actually enjoyed painting that one lol. I was experimenting with different brushes.. this time.. oil painting. lol Ok that guy is trying to paint the dying scene and that airplane is shooting at him.... and at me too. Lucky, I survived and this artwork has survived. Whew! Unfortunately, HE didn't make it. :/
If anybody have any suggestions to help my sketches to improve, please don't feel afraid to say so. I love hard and mean criqitues. :D

A tricky topic, and some very nice interpretations.
Zyrinx - nice rain, thoughtful composition;
xodibox - good architechture; I like the bonzai tree...
squirpy - this image grabbed me for some reason; excellent motion and color selection
danielh68 - moody, and I am always a sucker for war elephants!

squirpy: nice image, great dynamics, you have a good rendering style. Work on your anatomics and you will be gorgeous.
daniel68: nice as always, I like the mood in your pictures.
martin_B: somehow I like this image, the colors are pretty good. Besides the face it is a really nice image with a nice mood. It reminds me to impressionistic painters. keep it up!

Oh well, I messed this one up and didn't have enough time to try to fix it. It was supposed to be a guy strung up and riddled with #2 lead pencils ( I felt they were the most recognizable.) I didn't get to doing the blood around the wounds but I wanted to post what I had.
Some great work shown up here :thumbsup:

A traditional painter battles against the new technology that threatens to overrun his world.
Pencil on typing paper, colored in Photoshop with a mouse.
Drawing: ~30 minutes
Photoshop: ~30 minutes
Total: ~1 hour
I like the way this one came out... I've gotten a little more used to mouse-painting in Photoshop, and the scene worked well. I also worked out the concept as I drew it... started with the soldier with the paint, then the barbed wire fence, then the explosion, the technology, and his paintings. A different way of working for me... I usually have the scene planned out beforehand.
Image was completed on time, but posted late due to image prep.
