View Full Version : Sequence Numbering

I was wondering why xsi doesn't number the frames "correctly".

instead that it numbers the frames like ren.0001.pic it does only ren.1.pic, etc. - it's working fine when you just use the xsi flipbook or fxtree but when you want to initialize the sequence into another editing or compositing package it doesn't group all frames.

any suggestion?

I think you just didn't look hard enough. It's in there. XSI has lots of frame padding options in the render>render>options page under the output tab. (Perhaps you are not using version 3?)

uhm, i just noticed. there arent any padding options. i work with xsi 2.03

its surprising that there is no option like that from the version 1. - or do i just not see it?

The numbering options are new in v3.

Why is it that important? Now most softwares recognize sequences that are not identically padded.

You can use 'renamem', it's a freeware/shareware very good at renaming, renumbering large amounts of files.
And it's very easy to use.

Yeah I remember combustion having a problem with this when we were working in 2.0.

Here's a simple workaround.

Render your sequence in XSI.

Open up the sequence in Flipbook and then choose. File--Export.

In there you'll find settings for file format and frame padding. Flipbook will rename everything with the frame padding you choose and then you can import into combustion no problem.
