View Full Version : Working with Two fps rates
.:ZRDwD:. 08-22-2005, 06:59 PM I'm needing some help using two reels with two different fps rates. One is assumingly a rip from a Flash viddy (15fps) and the other is a mpeg (30fps).
How can I mix these viddies together at one frame rate without having it 'jerk'? Is this where I use Interpret Footage or is a 3rd party plug-in needed?
*I've searched here for some past inquiries, but the results were inconclusive (use Interpret, use 3rd party, not possible, etc).*
Thanks in advance for your replies.

What are the framerates? check in explorer (assuming your using a pc) and click the properties tag>advanced info.
15 fps just sucks to begin with, its made for web, you've already lost at least half of your information, get it redone at 29.95 or 30 fps. if you can't get it redone you could cheat a little by importing the clip to AE set up a comp w/ a faster frame rate, click frame blending and render. Your pulling frames out of nowhere so you quality will always be below par.

Thanks, Dizz.
The QT file reads 14.99 fps. Data rate of 62.9 Kbytes/s.
The quality already sucks for it. I think I'll do the comp frame blend method you mentioned and give it a test run this week.
Since I'm needing to mix it in with the better quality viddy, I'll be doing some F/X to somewhat hide the quality and render it out around 320x240.
I've already tried to play with it to see what I can come up with, and AE keeps crashing on me, the error saying something about the frame rate for the QT file. I'm gonna have to fiddle with it some more and zip back here with that info (more descriptive) if it continues. The error is more than likely the codec. Always have issues with Divx and Xvid.

Ok.
I placed the QT in its own comp, and dragged that onto the other clip's comp timeline. All renders well. No errors or crashes, even with 30 layers. Heck, even my Divx codec is doing fine. Always had issues with that.
Karma being good to me finally?
