View Full Version : Full-crease creates dark corners. help?
BlueMouse 08-22-2005, 12:03 AM Hey there-
I've got a plane in Maya 6.5 and when I convert it to sub-d and apply "full crease" to the corner verts it sharpens the corners of the plane as desired -BUT- the normals of the corner faces fade down to black at the tips.
How can I prevent this?
Thanks for any suggestions! :)

Try grabbing those edges and harden them.

The only way that I can harden the edges is by converting my sub-d mesh back into polygons. I don't actually want to convert it back if I can avoid doing so. Applying a "full crease" modifier to the edges doesn't have any effect either. any additional suggestions?
btw- I have noticed that when I DO convert my mesh back to polys the dark corner problem disappears. Now if only I could get it to disappear without converting to polys. :P

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
1. create polygon plane
2. convert to sub-d
3. select corner verts
4. apply full crease modifier
The corners turn black :(
