im just starting to learn about texturing my 3d models using images drawn in photoshop, and so i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for learning how to properly go about learning to apply my textures.

I have messed around with uvmapper program, but didnt get very far since it was a demo. I also have tried using bodypaint for c4d, but that seemed comfusing to me since i didnt have enough time to learn it. UVmapper seemed easy to use...

anyway, my question aside from asking someone for some good direction (like tut sites) i guess is: what is the best way to paint textures when using a wire mesh as polygon placement reference? example, should i copy a wireframe generated by UVmapper over to Photoshop and then somehow blend the layers so that i can color them in to get my properly fitting texture? ..Things like that.

hope i have been clear enough...im a n00b

No, it's not a bad question. UV mapping is difficult for most newer users to understand. So what 3d programs are you using now for your work? Most will have UV mapping tools built in so the manuals generally are good sources of info on the topic. Bodypaint is a good tool for UV mapping but I agree it can be tricky. Let us know what kind of object you want to UV and what applications you are comfortable with currently and somebody can help out. I'll try to do my best to help if you can get that information posted. If you're considering purchasing a program for UV mapping I would wait for all of the program updates to come out. There are so many GREAT UV mapping tools coming soon.

Hey, first I would like to thank you for being so nice!!! Everyone here is so polite! :)

I am currently using Cinema 4d and body paint which I have not really messed with at all, but I am using this software on my housemate's computer, so I dont actually perminently own it. So therefore now that I have my feet wet in the 3D world, I am getting into other 3d modeling apps like Wings 3d, which I am pretty good at. But I use wings to model and then i render in cinema 4d. But lately I am trying to learn to render in Wings using YAFRAY (I think thats what its called) but have yet to get the hang of it... anyway, for uv mapping I was trying to use the program called UV Mapper, but the demo lasted a very short time or something, so I cant use it anymore... I need to find another uv mapping tool, as you said there are many out there..

So there you have it, thats mainly what I use. Oh, I also just aquired gmax but have yet to try it out.
