hey guys, long time no post.
ive been commisioned to create 12 pieces of work for a record company in the UK, they are wanting to use my Silent Silhouette image http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/4405722/ for the front cover of the Album and so needed an image that was connected to it for the back cover, this is what ive created:)
apart from some of the brick work and 2 buildings on the waters edge the rest of the image is painted from scratch without refs.
hope you like it:D

love this one, the lighting on the brick and water steal the show for me, how did you go about painting the water? round brushes or custom, i'd be very interested to know.

Great lighting, mood and colors. I love the way the room fragment seems to be floating, and the way the water runs off the edge of the floor. Seems like the curtain that is flying up should have a bit more cast shadow on it, but that's pretty nitpicky.
Please post the others from this series!

Even though this image isn't exactly like the original artist, the lighting in the foreground on the bricks and figure, the clouds in the background, even the sky color, remind me sooo much of the works of the Art Nouveax artist Maxfield Parrish from the 1890s to the 1920s....very nice!

I remember seeing the first picture a while ago and loving it, though I didn't know who had done it. Great work on both pictures, I get alot of emotion from them and there aren't even any faces. definitely one of my favourites

The kind of image I instantly fall in love with.
(Just note, in case you're interested, brick walls like these would be thicker, double thickness of bricks at least, or even bricks laid sideways.)

Excellent use of contrast. I especially like the color contrast. Desperation and even hope, all visible in one image. Great!

Hi! I'm always looking at Silent Silhouette for inspiration! It is one of my all time favorite paintings! So you can see how much I appreciate this one. I love it! The lighting is wonderful and you've managed to keep the same style from the original. I recognized the color and mood off the bat (the color red, water, broken city) b4 I read that it was you. Great work, and I'm also dying to see all 12... it's gonna be some good feeding for my brain! Well take care,
love to see your work!

Awesome painting!
Reminds me a bit of me at the age of 5 or 6? don't remember now, but it was late winter here in the Czech Rep. and I was with my family at our holiday house. There's a river next to it and that winter it was extremely cold so most of the river was frozen. I, a rebel, kept on jumping on the very edge of the frozen area until it broke. However, I didn't fall in the water, I stood on the iceberg and drifted along the river... :D man I was stupid. My dad had to go to the cold water for me ;)
Anyways, http://forums.cgsociety.org/images/rating/rating_5.gif from me man! :applause:

wow! how beautifull that is, the light in the water its quite a cool thing to watch, so deatailed so romantic, what a peacefull posture in such a chaotic scene, great contrast, i specially like the way you paint, with some rough stength, what gives me a great feeling of spontaneous movement.
