View Full Version : Costmize keys
blurrita 08-19-2005, 06:03 PM Hi, guys
Do you guys know how to customize keys? I am an animator. So, let's say I need toggle between move tool and rotation tool. But I want move tool with global and rotation tool with local.
How can I make this function as short key?
What type of script writting Motion Builder support?
If anyone knows, please answer to me...thanks in advance!

They showed basically what you're asking for in 7 which is supposed to be released in a week or so.
MB Pro has python scripting. MB std has no scripting support.

Hi,
I think you can access some shortcuts by changing .txt files in
C:\Program Files\Alias\MotionBuilder601Pro\bin\config\Keyboard
or where ever your copy of MB is. Not much help there I suppose?
...other than that with standard shortcuts
T : transform
R : rotate
S : scale
F5: local
F6: global
...I using MB 6.01Pro, but should be same in previous versions.

Also in motionbuilder 6.01, you can set it so the rotation tool will also defaults to local and the Translation tool to Global when selected.
To do this, you need to go to your Preferences and go to the interface tab and Tick the Store Reference Mode by Transform Mode. Ticking this box will allow MB to remember your chosen Global or local Reference mode for each transformation tool.

Thank you so much guys!!! It really helped. I am learning motion builder and it was a good start!
