View Full Version : some help with texturing a head? simple (and probably stupid) question
l1ghtyearsaway 08-18-2005, 10:47 PM hey im kinda new to this whole thing but im trying to model myself in maya and i have my head done and i want to texture it, i sperically mapped it and i made my texture in photoshop and now maya wont let me texture my head in any way, if i select and individual face and try to just put a simple color on it, it maps that color to the entire head, does anyone know what im doing wrong? this is the way ive textured many times in the past and now all of a sudden it doesnt work, is there something simple im just overlooking? thanks

Maya doesn't like if you apply a texture to single faces by right-clicking and using the pulldown menu. However, if you have a few faces selected, you can pop open the Hypershade, right click on the texture you want to apply, and when the marking menu pops up, go due north to "Apply Material to Selection."

thanks for the advice but that only really helped me if i wanna use basic color textures, im trying to use a texture from a spherical map that i edited in photoshop and even using that technique it wont let me add the texture, well, it will but nothing lines but how it should, does anyone know why i cant add this texture? ive always done the trick with selecting the faces and then right clicking then assigning new materials and its always worked but for some reason now it wont, please help!
