Hello!

I have a problem. When I modeled my character, I did the eyes flat, so that they can fit better in the holes.. I`ve put a texture and before putting the skeletton on it I freezed it.. now the thing is that I cannot play with the textures anymore. I wanted to rotate the textures so that the eyes can look wherever she wants to. But in XSI 2.0 it seems like all the textures control dissapered. I dont know if you understood me.. but now I want to movethe eyes, and I dont know how I could be able to now.. please help me!

thanks and have a GREEEAAAATTT DAY! (sorry tiger I like the expression, so I stoled it from you! hehe but your only on a cereal box so you wont hurt be! hihi! :) )

when you freezed the texture support, or the model,
you basicaly killed the little green box you wanted to move
the texture with :)

you should aplly the texture again, and not freeze it, if you intend
to animate the support.

There's an old trick for doing eyes that are not completly spherical
, and yet be able to rotate the actual eye, here it goes:

tip: Softimage calculates Rotataion,Translation,Scale
(TSR),before it calculates Deformation.

1) Get a primitive sphere
2) apply the eye textures, reflections, what ever you want
on the eye.
3) you can freeze the texture support if you like, but always
keep a scene before freezing.
4) Apply a Lattice to the sphere
5) Deform the latice how ever you like, even asymetric, and even
scale it flat..
6) Select the sphere, and Rotate it.. if you did everything right,
and I didn't forget anything.. you should say VIOLA!

like I said, Softimage Calculates the Rotation first, and then apllies
the Lattice Deformation. So this is a nice trick for Deformed eyes.

Just remeber not to freeze the eye, because you
would loose the relation between two..

Goodluck,

thanks!

but It will do like I was moving the texture controle? And how do I connect a lattice on the sphere again? (I learned it at school but nover really used it.. and I forgot.. I know how to get a lattice.. but not how to connect them togeter!)

thanks! and have a nice weekend! ;)

i`m stupid! but not blond! ;)

I got it! that`s ok now I know who to use the lattice! I was scaling it not moving the points.. ;)

But the first half of my question still available.. I dont think that doing that will be like if I moved the texture.. well i`ll try..

well if you insist, you can move the texture support, instead
of rotating the eys.. just dont freeze the eye-model
because it would freeze the texture support as well..

choose the method that suits you best, and gives you the best
results..

(Hey, sometimes I animate the support for the eyes too..
it's not a no no :) )

it is just because when I rotate the eye like you said it is coming out of the head.. their is not anought room for the eyes to move like that.. well I reaply a texture on my eyes and i`m moving the texture now.. why I didn`t thought about that earlyer? don`t know! :) and If I would have done your waqy or only putting a rond sphere I had to do all my weighting again! And I hate weighting so much that i`ve try anything else than that! :)

thanks anyway! appreciated!

HAve a great weekend!
