Hi all, i recently completed my first character,and was hoping for some feedback. The poly count is 4850 tris, which i realise is insanely high poly for todays games but it is ment for next gen stuff.
I cant texture at all so that means i have no need for normal mapping atm, however it was orignally just a modeleing practice.

hi, good model!

is it really 4850 tris, that sounds very good for the amount of detail.the 5000 mark is what todays gen models use in stuff like Half life 2. and im sure characters on fighting games like soul caliber or DOA use at least that many. so your model will work for currenty gen.

like to see a texture map. i would say keep it fairly simple as you already have alot of detail in the mesh. dont want a messy map that will take away from the model rather than add too it.

Hi thanks for your comments, The model isnt in tris, but polys. You may have gotten a little confused. I calculated the tri count at 9029, so yeah it not go very well in games today unless you had the best hardware and stuff. Also, i have no idea how to texture for beans, i can unwrap her (slowly) but dont have much time atm, due to school. If anyone wants to give it a go feel free and il send the model asap.

Hehe, i started texturing although its just a plain old waste of time, i suck badly as you can see and im already struggling to understand how i can fit everything in a 1024 by 768 :S

Well i really need some crits now more than ever, so i would be very thankfull for anyfeedback and i realise it will all be negative.

well 10,000 is probably next gen, but if you are going for that i would aim higher. a project gotham 3 car on xbox 360 is 40,000!

could posibly come in at current gen for beatemup. not sure what they are, but your character would suit sommit like Soul calibre.

i would keep texture simple as i said befor youve got enough detail in shape, just add some nice metal textures, so that you can overlap uvws, then you shaould easily have enough space to get the detail in there. plan them before.

thanks Shepeiro, its not like i cna make the textures detailed as i suck at texturing but now that i realise i can go a bit more wild with the polys i will. I have started to notice that games are more and more focused on lipsyncing and detailed faces/heads which seams locial so il try and redo the head and helm.
