Well, Here is a WIP of the vehicle portion of this months challenge (still working on a character). I think I still have some lighting and texturing to work on with this one, but it's getting there. Let me know what you think. Hopefully I'm going to have time to get the character done.

Thanks Mike

I've added a couple of WIPs's of the character as well..........

Wow can't believe this one didn't get any replies, the deadline is March 8th as stated in the rules.

This model is very nicely done, what type of character do you have in mind for it? I love the texture work you've done, the only probs I see right now, are the canopy at the back is looking a tad blurry like a low res map, and the doors have no apparent way to open :) other than that nice job, waiting for the character

also please enter your submission here http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2057 we need more vehicles :)

cheers

wow, that's one good lookin model you have there. Why didn't you post any WIP piccies?

Lildragon, thanks for the suggestions. Yea, the canopy tex is not as complex and detailed as the rest, it's one of the only procedural textures in the scene, everything else is pretty much painted in PS. The door actually does open, it's either lost because the lighting needs work or because of the file compression. The character is a Sci-fi type solder, hopefully he'll be done (or close) this weekend I'll post some WIP's of him here later. Bytehawk, thanks, I didn't really post anything because I was busy working on it and not playing around on the internet, about 2 or 3 days modeling and 2 days so far texturing.

Later, Mike

Really cool vehicle and good texturing...
It would be nice if you added some enviroment to go with your very well textured vehicle

Later (Good stuff !!!)

Thanks DimitrisLiatsos... I'll try, but I'm working on the character now. If I have time I plan on doing the enviroment.

Here's an update of the character....

Love it!
Very nice.
Two things to coment:
The guns... there is no ammo-feed... or if it´s a beamweapon no powercord;)
The windscreen culd use more dirt where the wipers don´t wipe. Check any dirty car to see what I mean.

Otherwise... nothing. keep it up.

I love it! Particularly the treads. Dinging up the cab a bit wouldn't hurt either...rust, scratches, the like.

Keep it up!

The character hasn't really progressed much since last post, I thought we had untill the 8th to finish, but I guess it's Friday, late night tomorrow!

I'd love to see a tutorial of this (If you ever get time) so us less experienced can learn from your experiences, once again, brilliant work.

Thanks for the comments guys...

Terekki, yea, I'd like to do tutorials, but not until I finish my reel and portfolio. Must be nice to be in Ireland!

Bytehawk, I plan on trying for an enviroment... we'll see how it goes.

Thanks Again, Pinion3d

hi pinion!!
well i saw the work...
i love the text work on the vehicle!! specially the windshileld
the modeling work is great.. specially on the (wheels) sorry dont know the name for that part..:D
i think that the model is stron but if you want it to stand out ( as far as the vehicle goes) work on the lighting more... and the creases on the door...
and the specular highlight on the overall... i mean some parts work great like the bumper and the glass as well as the (wheels)
but i think just a zinch of work on the lighting will make it perfect.!!!
but still GREAT WORK!!
as far as the character i love the face detail!! and the modeling is very good but again all you have to fix is the specular highlight on the model... either on the shader or the lighting.... or maybe try a different Bg... either way its well on its way...
Hope you get it done..
oh sorry and one last small thing... when you pose it... try to portray the characters attitude and it'll get really far...

mike hope that helps

sincerely

why don't you put your character into the vehicle ? You probably don't even have to change his pose, as you could only see his head and shoulders...

C'mon, a quick re-render and you are done !
