cholo 11-02-2002, 01:56 AM A little project I did to test a few aspects about going digital versus actual filming for cars. Comments welcome! :)

Great model. What program and modeling method did you use. I didn't realize they still made fiestas: Is this a concept or a Ford import?

Very cool! nice intro with the flashing effect. I found the colored bars you composited in a bit distracting, but that aside, it was a cool animation and an excellent model! If you had an interior shot, it'd be Ford commercial worthy:) Excellent work man!

Frye: Sorry, forgot to mention toolset. Everything is made with lightwave 7.5 with no plugins whatsoever. Modeling was done with splines and nurbs mixed techniques for different parts, some parts are straight polys, some are subd's. The scene shown uses about 40 lights to simulate radiosity and renders in about 5 minutes per frame with motion blur. As for the car it is an import made in brazil and currently sold in europe and latin america.

Looks very nice, some excellent renders you have there! perhaps you could write a small tutorial on how you got that paint material?
thanks!

Very nice modelling and texturing. One re-mark however, i don't really know much about cars, but the wheels seem to be too thin. I might be wrong here... but somehow they look a bit weird to me... oh well, it's a job very well done!

Hi cholo!!! i just loved your fiesta! :applause: :wip:
I'm doing one of these in my spare time and i appreciate if you post some wires!! please! and where did you find the blueprint of the car?? i just printscreened the "360° crappy res." quicktime that i found in www.ford.com.br
if you don't mind, that's what i got so far:

If i archive 50% of the quality you did, i'll be damn happy :)

For modeling I used photos from a CD I got from Ford Mexico. The were pretty high res and although the images didn't really match up 100% I used my imagination for the rest :) I think those photos were used in the catalog so maybe if you pay a visit to your local ford dealership you can get a catalog from them and scan the photos. My model still has a few errors I caught when I last went to a dealership to explore the car upclose, like a fine line that crosses the body through the doors at the same height of the crease in the back door. I find that seeing the actual car helps find the little details a lot. You seem to be doing fine with your car, keep it up. Lemme post a wireframe and hope it helps :)

The animation is great, only if the car wernt so ugly. I wish you could make one of a sports car. Vrom
