Is there a way to use the clone/stamp tool to take a sample out of two layers at the same time and stamp them on two new layers?
I want to do this when im manipulating textures for 3d models. Often with texture libraries like total textures you get one map for the color accompanied by another one for the bump.
I'm not a photoshop expert, but often, the bump map (grayscale version of the color map) cannot easily be made from the color version by just adjusting levels and such, and requires a lot of editing by hand.
Lets take for an example, a stone block wall. The color version of the wall shows some white and black stones. And the bump map - the grayscale versions needs to have both the black and white stones in the same value. The case can be worse if those black stones in a wall have some white paint stains on it.
Another can be if I would want to use a photo of some metal plate with a deep dent in it. If the plate was lit by sun, the dent would have a highlight on one side and shadow on the other, which would have undesired results if turned into a bump map.
All of these adjustments would require a lot of work by hand. In the best case scenario I could use some selection tools and adjust the levels for each selection, but in the worst case, I would have to hand paint over the image.
Anyway, whether i've done the hand painting myself, or someone else did it for me in those texture libraries, i would like to take details from those textures and use it somewhere else.
For example, the rusty parts and paint peeling onto a new texture like this:http://pailhead.animacija.org/hummer/vrata_rend01.jpg
Or maybe make some arches and columns on a photo of a brick wall.
The problem is, i can use the clonestamp tool, or copy/paste on the original photo/color texture, but im back to where i've started when it comes to making the bump map for the new texture.
So is there a way, to use two images or layers, bind them somehow, and use the clone stamp tool to take the same samples from both images and stamp them into a new set of images or layers?
Or is there a way to somehow record the clone stamp actions that took the sample from image A and stamped them to image B, and then repeat those actions but use image C for the samples and stamp them to image B?
I hope that someone understands what im trying to do.
