View Full Version : COMING NEXT WEEK : THE PLEDGE / 7 Sketches, 7 days
RobertoOrtiz 08-17-2005, 02:48 PM I want to try an experiement next week at the CGTalk Daily Sketch Forum (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=130).
The idea is quite simple, for one week post a drawing EVERY DAY on the appropiate tread based on the daily topic.
A key rules is that drawing must be done in less than two hours.
And that at the end of the week you must have done 7 Drawings, one for each topic of the previous week.
The dateline is FRIDAY August 26, and we start this SATURDAY.
Of course people who dont participate on THE PLEDGE can post as usual.
The idea is for all to improve our speed and to see how we work with very specific datelines.
If you are interested you just say so right here on this thread
and when you post your drawing and post each day under your image
THE PLEDGE SKETCH#/7
For example:
Your posting for the Monday topic would have the id "THE PLEDGE 3/7 " right under it.
On that Friday I will tally all those who were able to do the full PLEDGE.
So WHO WANTS TO TAKE THE PLEDGE?

Count me in. Nothing I need more than a little structure with this. Very cool.
I, "state your name" hereby pledge to do 7 pieces in 7 days, in under 2 hours each.

So, if I take the PLEDGE, will I have to like shave my head and do push-ups and things? Will there be morning runs and obstacle courses? *crosses fingers* :)

The time is nigh for my involvement on these forums to begin in earnest. I therefore pledge myself to the fulfillment of this task, that I may indeed finish and post seven drawings in seven days. Let not this pledge go unseen nor unfulfilled in hope that it will begin a greater commitment to the addition and betterment of these forums.

Been real busy lately, so I stopped posting after only 2 sketches. I need to be sketching every day though, so this is a good motivator. Count me in.

I will try, but I seriously doubt that I will succeed. I've been doing well to contribute about one a week, and art is not my primary form of income. (sigh)

I think I'll give this a shot. I've been lazy, and there's nothing like committing to something to give yourself that much needed push.

Well you have until Friday of next week. But along with the pledge you have to show a drawing for each daily topic.

What do we do if we make multiple entries for one?
Should we choose one to be the pledge entry or just put the same number?
If we only can have one pledge entry per topic, can I change whitch of the ones I enter that should be "pledged", if they're all under the time-limit and I'm more happy whit the second entry?

I'm a bit late but I'm going to try to take part. I will have to back track to yesterdays to catch up. But this sounds really great! I find that I don't take part in the sketch thread much maybe this will help me :)

I have a backlog of a couple of days, but I think I'll give this a whirl... I've been meaning to try posting in the Daily Sketch Group anyway, and this looks like a good kick-start. I work fast, so most of my sketches should be 30-60 minutes, unless I decide to noodle it to death. :)
I'm not a very experienced digital painter, don't own/can't afford a Wacom™ tablet at the moment, and have relatively weak "mouse-fu" skills ( :arteest: ). Not that I won't decide to do one or two in color, but my sketches will most likely be scanned pencil/ink drawings. Hope nobody minds.
Already have a couple of ideas... so awaaaaay we go! :D
