View Full Version : zone alarm stops maya rendering
schuck 08-17-2005, 01:32 AM i am having problems getting maya to batch render. if zone alarm is completely uninstalled, then maya will render. with z/a installed, it wont render out a frame. even with z/a is turned off, maya wont render. the entire z/a application has to be completely uninstalled to get the renderer to work. i have went through in z/a and gave permissioin to every maya support exe and dll that was on the list. are there some maya processes that are not in the maya folder? any help with this is greatly appreciated. i dont want to uninstall z/a every single time i need a decent render.

make mayabatch and render permission it should work ok, when you reinstalled zone alarm it should give you the option if you want maya to have permission. How mayabatch works is it first runs the render.exe command which needs permission then it runs mayabatch.exe which that needs permission.

hi there is a remedy for this you have to get a tool called lspview.exe and then using it to disable low level port protection (or whatever it is called)
by typing lspview -p in the console you should find that there are entries called CA ISafe LSP
and imslsp
You will have to disable one of them or both, sorry but I don't recall it exactly
to disable type: lspview -r [ID of the service] (ID preceeds the name 4 digit number)
doing this disables some of the ZA protections (I don't know which, but I haven't had any intrusions by doing so), but allows maya to render in batch with no problems.
If you're uncertain (I'm not :) ) if it is safe then do research on the web.
I found this doing search on the alias site, but since alias site has a referer (I don't know if I've misstyped that but ...) mechanism so link here won't work.
Have fun, bye!

the three apps you should unblock completely in zone alarm - 1. maya app.
2. maya batch app.
3. java.exe
then it should work fine.
at least it does here.
