View Full Version : YOUR SKETCHBOOK (AUG 8-14): Post a page from your sketchbook

RobertoOrtiz

Hi guys, Roberto here.
I am going to try an experiment.
The idea is for people to post a page of their sketchbook.
The only rule is that it had to be drawn last week.

The cool thing with these threads is that it if you post often, it will give you a motivation to
show your sketchbook work either on this thread or next weeks threads.

So lets see some sketches!

Ok, so I admit that I didn't do this this weekend, and it's posted in, ahem, the sketchbook thread in the Anatomy forum ;), but I'm going to feel left out and miserable if I don't post here, so Roberto, you're just going to have to deal. :)

I'll try to sketch this weekend, tho, and post some fresh sketches. :)

Really nice entries everyone.

Rebeccak - That's amazing. Beautifully done. And, yeah, I usually have Hogarth's books strewn about the room...they're an endless resource.

danielh68,

Thank you very much! :) I've been admiring your quick portraits, and wondering why you haven't posted on the Anatomy forum. ;) I'm not ashamed to recruit! :scream:

rawwad,

Awesome sketches, where will you be studying transportation design? My alma mater, Art Center, is pretty famous for ID stuff...so just curious to see if you're going there. :)

I'm seriously cringing inside my stomach posting this. Most of my sketches are quick 1-5 minute captures of people I see on the tram to work, or snatches of ideas (it's all I get time for usually!). I see the amazing quality just in this thread alone and feel slightly ill at my lack of 2d skills.
That's why I'll most likely be stepping up to your workshop Rebecca!!!:D

What I prefer is honest criticism. You can say "That's nice", but pound me with my problem areas. :)

http://homepages.ihug.com.au/%7Eerilaz/sketchbook/20050811_Erilaz.jpg
I use a small A5 sketch diary and a 2h mainly. I like to draw lightly and then go over everything heavily after I've defined the look.

Alice, peppe, Rebecca, rawwad, awesome stuff!

I did some sketches, but since I have no digicam (yet) I have to scan everything, (with an officejet, not a flatbookscanner).
So here is my page...

By the way, why isn't there a sketchbookforum here like over at conceptart.org? that's just awesome, not that I am an active sketcher, but it seems to be very constructive. For participants as well as for viewers.

Great lines Cyanid! Love the strong poses. I'd only point out the slightly odd forshortening of the elbow, but I still love it! :D

Oh, and you can't complain about your smudges. Look at mine!

thanks erilaz :D I did a slight contrast adjustment in PSP so the biggest smudges disappeared...but you should see my sketchbook...

Are digital sketchbooks kosher? :p
Just got a Tablet PC, so here's me getting used to/playing around with Sketchbook Pro. These basically started off as random squiggly lines that started looking like things.

That's weird, because I can see them fine!
Anybody else not seeing my sketch page? Maybe that's why I never get much response to my sketches! (apart from suckiness) :D

EDIT: Like the bag guy LoTekK! Nice gestures.

It seems none of you can even be a sketchist without being an artist... great job.

I mostly do cartoony faces and hands. (Most important parts of a cartoon character, IMO)
3 of my weird animal characters are near the bottom.

LoTekk,

A tablet pc is not a person. It can neither talk to you nor be your friend. Step...away...from...the tablet. Just walk away, man, walk away... :scream:

Cool stuff so far, Teckie! Just keep on Trekkin'! :)

Hi there!
I'm very new here and sort of stumbled over this thread which inspired me so much that I started my first Sketchbook drawing. I'm very new to serious drawing as well and therefore I still need a picture to draw from. So what I made is already drawn in some other form and I just re-drew it.
I hope this is ok for you. Feel free to criticize me and to give hints on what and how to do things better ;)
