View Full Version : volume lights - barn doors and decay region falloff

ok I have a streetlamp and I created a spotlight that lights the path beneath it. I want the streetlamp to cast volume rays of light beneath it so I applied a volume fog to my spot. edit values - hit render ...result :)
now I want to change the shape of the volume fog and by that I mean the equivalent to what the 'barn doors' option in your spotlight does enabling me to create a small square falloff except I need it to affect the volume fog too but it isn't. my fog isn't affected whatsoever by it :(

my second prob is the decay region - when I turn it on and drop the first decay region to start just beneath the streetlamp_lampMesh that point is also circular.

if I can get that barn doors effect then I'm guessing that the decay region will be sorted too but at present its stumped me. does anyone have any ideas?

ps: any good mental ray physical light tutorials would be really appreciated - I wouldn't mind getting some nice raymarched fog/light setup in my street scene :)
