View Full Version : Vehicle: Range Rover Camel
cholbrow 08-15-2005, 07:36 AM This is a late 80s Range Rover of the Camel Trophy variety. The car is about 6000 tris + the two tires on the roof (I just added them)
Im currently in the process of texturing it. The roof objects are mostly unfinished, as for the rest, it is nearing completion. I will try and add some mud or dust, my attempts so far have been ugly:shrug:. Im not sure what im going to do for the windows. (right now its a simple ramp shader to keep it from being boring)
Anyway, let me know what you think.
sorry for the double post my comp crapped out on me (might have been pilot error)

you have done a great job, your model skill is very good, i appreciate your placement of edge of the circular shape front light, it is clever to split the cicular shape into 5 square shape polygon.the overall structure of the mesh looks firm and solid. i am eager to see your UV placement if you were feel free to share with us!
Best wish =D

i think just darken the ramp a bit. may be add a cube map avec falloff for reflection?

looks good so far, the Camel sign at the top really stands out as a decal to me, but you did say that area was mostly unfinished. maybe adjust the hue of the scratched bits a little so that they don't contrast quite so much,
how far along are you with the windows?

A specular map to bring out the car paint would be cool too =)

i have made some changes. haven't totaly finished the roof bits, they are a pain, some of them are too low rez. I have added a spec map although its not too cleer in the stills. I think i might stick with the windows a s such

Unless, of course, it's in a desert showroom.
Great job Chris - excellent attention to detail! Looking at it gives me a good feeling... the scratches, rack, beautiful ram... it's very well put together. All you need to do is give it a spin on your demoreel with a background and it'll be done.

Sure. Not my cleanest layout but whatever. I was going to do some mud for it but wasnt happy with my reasults. As this was to be done in only a couple days i didnt want to waste any time experimenting. At any rate the dust in all the pics i have of these vehicles is not noticable from the distance that im going to render it from.

wow, took you long enough to get around to texturing that thing!
I remember seeing the model...when?...christmas or something like that?
looks really nice!
my only crit is that the hinge end of the doors has more wear and scratches than the outside, which is far more likley to get banged up.
keep up the good work, and see you around!
