Salut Kleumann!

The animation short is not bad in the style of anime that I am a fan of. Not often one would see Japanese 3D anime done by non-Japanese so this short is as close as the actual ones, even the cinematography and directing is quite good. Sure like to see the rest of the story. The guy 's head kind of looks small with a long neck, though if a stylised look is wanted, then it is all right. A different colour scheme for the villains would be preferable since yellow doesn't look quite right, too bright and flashy, well to me anyway so it is a matter of opinion. Probably, red or something darker would be better I suppose. The movements are quite jerky actually, not really smooth especially in certain fight scenes so probably could improve on that. Other than that, a good piece of work!

Thank you norl
The design for the neck and the head of the character is wanted...we want him to look not really human.
The villains are yellows because they are made of gold (supremacy and power of the villains...), there is allegories to the sun but I understand you didn't see it... ^^
For the animations I see what you mean but we had a little problem during the production...a lazy guy who is no more in the credits...and he is the problem of a few animations...
The english sub is in progress...soon I promise...

Thanks for C&C...

Amazing work !!!
Camera work is top notch and the action is beautifully staged. Music and sound design give the perfect kind of mood for this piece. WOW !
I'd say character and set design could have been a bit more striking but the timing of the animation and the shot framing makes up for it...and cloth effects are a nice touch.
To pay tribute to japanese animation is a tricky thing to do and it was quite an ambitious project but you definitely succeeded in what, I think, you were aiming for. it looks very solid and very professional. Bravo !

This is a must see people !
5 stars from me and mods please put this on the front page.

ps : I had to download The Core Media Player to view this animation.

Wow I think it's great! The action and staging is wonderful and the general feeling is perfect. My only comment is that sometimes the character are loose as they can be, but that can be due to a personal choice.

Can't wait to see the final movie and...I love the japanese dialogues, it just fits tooo good in this kind of movies.

it would probably get more attention only if the file format wasn't in .ogm
i saw the trailer which was in .avi and it looks great! :)

maybe you could change the format of the full movie into something more viewer friendly... :)
just a thought...

for a huge production like this, my only suggestion would be to work on the sound effects more... since the visual part is already complete IMO... :)

Hi everybody !

English subs are done and the movie is online !
The english version is bigger than french (thanks trollito:twisted:)

You can download the movie here : Le Chant du Cygne (English) (http://www.lexode.com/Le_chant_du_cygne_%28en%29.avi) (~163MB)
Or just download the subtitles here : Le Chant du Cygne (English Subs) (http://www.lexode.com/Le_chant_du_cygne.srt) (~2KB) (Right Click -> Save As)

Note : the english version of the movie is compressed with Xvid and the audio is uncompressed (trollito !!!), this version have more blur, less contrast and sometimes a little color saturation than french version (injure trollito for this :scream:)
If you prefer french version, you can watch it with the .srt file (you need to have DirectVobSub installed on your system)

PS : yes I'm french and yes I've a poor english :applause:
PS2 : Damn smileys

Try this : DirectShow Filters for Ogg Vorbis, Speex, Theora and FLAC 0.69.8924 (http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=32&s=15) :)

If Xvid and OGG is installed on your system, this allow you to open .ogm

Kleumann

Or try with VLC Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) I'm sure it works.
Have fun

Neovov

Yes, it can work with VLC player, but VLC use their own codecs, so it isn't the right choice for a better quality ;)

Hey man i just saw the vid!

It was great i liked it! It was so anime like! Wich anime's do you watch?!

Your Camerawork was just like a real anime serie/movie.

But i think you could improve the editing of the fight secnes a bit, i was kinda lost in some secnes, cauze one secne is standing, next secne he is running as fast as he could.

Also sound was great, but that also could be improved!

Overal best anime 3Dish animation i have ever seen here till now.

Great job

visually, i give it a 5 out of 5... it looks great! dynamics, cameras, lighting, sets etc...

however, for a 10 min clip, looks can get tiring if the story has problems...

there are some awkward lines in the subtitles...

the story could use some work...

the main characters run cycle in chapter 3 could use some tweaks aswell...

overall, the good parts balance out the bad...

Sheherryar

I agree. I felt some of the editing made you feel like either a shot was missing or you missed something. I had to rewind the video a couple times to make sure what just happened. One shot when he is fighting several guys on that catwalk; he is running like crazy then, quick cut to him with his blade half-way through a guy. I also felt the fight scenes could have been a bit more fluent and authentic looking.
However, there were some nice visuals in this short.
Overall, a very good effort!

Very impressive work! I've got nothing but good things to say, there are nitpicks as in any production, but overall you've made a very cohesive and solid short film, and to keep me watching and interested for over 10 minutes is quite something! It looks beautiful, and feels poetic. Congratulations!
