For some reason, on some parts of my model I can't weld vertices. Example- I built a torso out of a cylinder, then I created a new cylinder and formed an arm out of it. After attaching the two together, I cannot welt the verteces at the shoulder. I didn't have this problem with welding the leg to the torso. I don't know if it has to do with the amount of vertices already welded at that point or if it is something in my setting. Can anyone help?

in my experience this usually happens when one or both of the vertices are either A) not on an open edge or B) not on an adjacent edge. Easiest way to get em to weld is to delete the faces that'll be inside where you're attaching the arm to the torso, leaving open edges around it.

be sure there is no face inbetween were the arm meets the body.....leave two holes in both of the meshes......cant weld 2 faces :wise:

yes sometimes you get v. thin polys created at symetry lines and joins, and you get this prob one way to sort is to select all polys in region, then deselect all needed ones this should leave just the tiny/invisible polys that could be causing the prob

ya i would say that you may have cap polys ore somthing. verts wont weld if they are not on an edge.

Ive had this problem when suing Editable Poly.. I have to convert to Editable Mesh and weld and then convert back..

lumbeecheraw75, i used to use this technique then i stopped beacuase i had too many probs with converting tooo many times as it used to make all edges visible sometimes and crash when i tried to undo. this might have been fixed in later versions. (still using 5) but i would still advise using the technique mentioned earlier as converting stuff can always be a little glitchy.

I've noticed that sometimes converting to editable mesh can triangulate your mesh without letting you go back to un-triangulated in edit poly, so I wouldn't recommend that method. Just delete the faces that surround the edge you want to weld and you'll be set. :)

Can weld:

It happens sometimes in editable poly. As said, I just delete 1 or 2 polies, weld, then reconstruct the polies if necessary.
