Yes and No. Yes because you'll be able to make some very cool stuff with it in short time, so definately yes. But no because it's not the end all of 3D and it's so radically different from traditional 3D packages that you won't learn much about other software from using it, where as if you learn all of Maya, you already know most of 3D Studio Max once you find where they organized the buttons.

ZBrush is absolutely amazing for modeling, detailing and texturing as well as painting in 2D. If you want to be a modeler I'd also suggest learning traditional polygon modeling in Max or Maya on top of working with ZBrush, if you want to be a texture artist, I'd definately learn how to make shaders in either Max or Maya as well as ZBrush and so on and so forth.

At the very least I would try and learn it alongside one of the bigger packages.

as Skuby says.

I think it makes sense to begin with a fully rounded application, to undersand the different aspects of 3d. I personnaly feel, as far as 'complete' 3d apps go, that Cinema4d is one of the most intuitive to get into, however this is a question of personnal preference.
Ask yourself what you want to learn.
Also, I think the power of Zbrush becomes really apparant only when you see it in relation to other 3d modelling apps, as it is base don a completely different paradigm.

I don't think you'd go far wrong starting out with ZB & maybe Silo (for more traditional modelling), this would cover all the modelling skills you'd ever need & give you a basic knowledge but by starting with ZB you would be being spoilt somewhat...

The previous posts here are spot to be honest...

Have tried downloading demos & trying out different apps, do you have any preference to what you wish to acheive in 3D ie modelling, texturing, lighting, rigging & animating, all of the above???
