Anyone seen a way to create custom hotbox in max?
Something resembling a plugin once being created (by Casey Muratori) for max called "Map"
I'd like to just rearrange the menu that is currently quads, customize.
I saw the icon based version of something like this, but not looking for that.
Is coding this in C++ the only way? I cant figure a way to use maxscript for it, but honestly thats not my bag.
Ideas help, Pleeeze.

What about the Maya Hotbox do you want to duplicate? You can launch QuadMenus from hotkeys like "space bar." And you can populate those menus with whatever you want. They don't have to be hardcoded commands, but can even be scripts.

Hard to explain....bare with me.
Its great that its intelligent when you select a poly the quads go to poly tools, but I want to set up actual hotbox that looks the same. Customize what is under each tab (which quads already do) but have the hotboxs surround my cursor for different areas.

I want it to act the same as mayas for use in workflow.
I'd like to stay current in both and make them work nearly ther same. I realize this is a touchy subject since many feel dedicated to the package. I feel more maya based studios would switch to max if the work flow were customized.

Well there are just some things that can't be duplicated exactly out of the box. I think if the HotBox is your killerapp then using Maya would probably make more sense. The workflow of MAX and Maya are similar yet quite different in areas. Making MAX more like Maya isn't going to help it be accepted any more than Maya becoming more like MAX (which both seem to already do).

BrandonD,
Sorry to go off course there, Not trying to sell anyone on converting. I already know both packages, and since I will do this from now on I'd like to try and make my experience each day a bit easier.
But for all of us around who do use both....... (on occasion I forget things) I think this could make it easier to go back and forth.

I d like to get some help in creating this to make things easier for that situation.

You can find it on his site. If you're this interested in making this kind of gesture based interface a reality you'll want to check this out.
