so_hi 11-01-2002, 04:54 AM Here is a model I have been neglecting for to long.
He is one of my main characters for my short film.
This is the concept.

This is where I am at with the model.

I have strayed from the concept but this was a conscious decision.
I am sort of making up some of the details as I go.
Tell me what you think of him.
Hope you enjoy.

cool design and modelling, the back seems a little to flat compare to the rest of the body, and what is the roll at the back of the arm (beetween arm and back)

Very nice.
Kinda like Ranxorox in his Elvis-years ;-) At least, that's the kind of world I imagine him in. Looking forward to more.

:buttrock: Absolutely awesome. Seeing this kind of stuff inspires me. I really hope you post the finished result and some animations.

junk:Thank you. About the flatness, I noticed that myself I will address it some how. As for the thingies, is suposed to be folded up flab, not compleatly succesful, has been addressed though.
dobermunk:Thank you I really didn't know who "Ranxorox" was but now that I do (Google Search), I am so flattered.
Mythigo: Wow I have never gotten such a compliment, Thank you, I really don't know what to say. I will say when I have animations you'll be the first to know. Thanks again.
And now the update
Work has been eating up my life. So, not much of an update.
I hope you like it.

He is supposed to be made of PVC. As you see him is with out wear or grunge maps,
to be added later, Today he is brand new.
This one is just for fun.

Thanks again for the great response.
I hope to post a little more often, Chistmas is coming perhaps then.

Thanks Remi, I am having a lot of fun with him. It is a nice change from doing humans. It's just you tend to scrutinize every poly when modeling people, makes for slow going. When doing something like this it is so freeing.
Thanks again.

agharti:I am glad you like it. I hope to find a little time this weekend perhaps monday he will have arms.
proton:I can always count on you. I have always had this concept in my head of scrunching rubber sounds for when he moves. So hey if you think he looks like silly putty I guess I hit the mark. Thanks for the reply.

so_hi,
Nice model! Good translation from sketch except for pectoralis. Pecs in sketch are more angular and straight across the bottom. The 3D model has more rounded breast-looking muscles which makes "him" look more feminine -- or more like a soft-hearted man.
Nice work, though! Let's see more!

are you using Maya or MAX?
nice model :)

Hello sebek27
I am using XSI (my personal Favorite). Mental ray is so cool.
If you were thinking about trying it (xsi) I highly recomend it.
Thanks for the compliment.

is there a demo version of XSI ? also is it easier to model things in than MAX, Maya and Lightwave ? I tried Maya - way too hard, Lightwave - confusing interface, MAX - not bad
how long have you been using XSI ?? and which version 3.0 ??

Hello Agian sebek27
I don't really know about max, to my experience Xsi is faster overal than Maya, just my opinion. I must add an exception to that statement though I will always go back to maya for dynamics ( maya has physics based simulations). I really love modeling in Xsi interface and tools seem better to me.
As for the demo version, you can down load it here ( or order the cds).

It is version 2.0 but you can get the feel.
enjoy.
