Sr Artist
Product Development Studio 2
* San Diego, California
Responsibilities:
* Provide a great deal of leadership, organization, and talent.
* Possess comprehensive knowledge of 2D Art (texture painting), 3D Art (modeling), and/or Animation tools and processes.
* Help to determine the look and maintain the visual consistency of the game.
* Coordinate a generalized standard for the art assets in the production path and communicate this data efficiently to all departments.
* Create concept art or work very closely with a concept artist within the team.
* Serve as a technical resource to other computer graphic artists and may lead computer graphic artist teams (including freelance graphic artists) on larger, more complex assignments. Also provide training to artists.
* Designate all education of in house staff on new technical issues and tools.
* Encourage team participation through meetings and discussions.
* Communicate well to insure good working relationships with the Art Director, Lead Artist, Lead Programmer, Designers, and Artists in all requested art implementation tasks. · Possess a strong sense of management to define or help define the art schedule for the game.
* Develop good working relationships with the artists on their team motivating them without adding an undesirable level of pressure. Insure the implementation of the team structure while driving them towards art completion and milestone.
* Be very aware of the art team’s morale and attitude while identifying all problems or concerns to the Director and/or Producer.
* Input in various art team members’ yearly reviews is desirable.
Qualifications:
* Works with all Artists on team on executing desired and consistent look of game. Coordinate a generalized standard for all art assets and information. Aid in scheduling all desired graphics for game. Also responsible for tracking these assets through paper trails that will be handed off to the Programmers. Works on scheduled art tasks as a modeler, texture mapper, animator, or at a Senior Level artist.
* Work with the Concept Artist on all requested graphics for game.
* Works with Programmers on executing all technical advances and implementation of all requested art items and transmitting this data in a timely fashion.
* Stays informed and educates team of all new technology. Identifies the Director of all attitude/morale problems or concerns. Involved in yearly improvement reviews. Insures the Director will be informed of overall progress or task slippage.
* Three to five years of game production experience ideally including one formerly shipped product.
* BA/BS degree required.
