Sr Programmer -
Product Development Studio 2
* San Diego, California
Responsibilities:
* Evaluate technologies, specify the design code structure, and write application code to develop the core elements for a project.
* Be capable of self-management and be able to act as a mentor/advisor for the more junior members of the programming team. Prior management, scheduling, hiring and disciplining experience of other programmers and/or general personnel is a plus.
* Direct and provide technical leadership and has ability to anticipate and resolve project roadblocks in new product development. Can be the driving force on the programming team and set the technical direction for the project.
* Have good communication skills and serve as primary communication link in order to work closely within the programming team as well as with the art, design, and production/management groups.
* Designing, writing, debugging, documenting and testing code in C/C++/assembler for all areas of the project including (but not exclusive to) 3D engines, computer A.I., physics, optimization, tools, etc.
* Communicating, scheduling, and management of the programming team (up to 5 programmers) including reporting to management, communicating with the art and design members of the team and specifying the technical direction of the project (including the authoring of the Technical Design Document).
* Providing advice and mentoring support for other programmers on the team.
Qualifications:
* Professional and interpersonal communication (email, phone, face to face). Interface with management, art, and design groups.
* Understanding programming process and basic workflow of receiving tasks and communicating task status/completion. Applicant has knowledge of good software practices, works efficiently and independently.
* In-depth understanding of and experience with current data structures, algorithms and methodologies. Strong C/C++ and assembly language programming skills. Strong 3D graphics skills. Extensive knowledge of production development tools including compilers (e.g. gcc), build tools (make), IDEs (Visual Studio), source code and asset control systems (SourceSafe, AlienBrain) and integration with 3d editing packages (Maya). Ability to write efficient, clear, maintainable and portable code.
* Research, analyze, and write up of technical design and implementation documents.
* Skills equivalent to B.S. in computer science and/or five to ten years of industry experience. One or more published titles or equivalent industry experience.
* Three to five years of industry related experience.
* One or two years of post-high school education or training.
