We are currently looking for a new Head of Department for our Render Support Team.
Job Description:
Manages a technical support team which monitors renders and maintains the rendering pipeline. The department handles first line support for the physical render farm cluster, and for the software which the render farm runs. The Head of Render Support represents the render farm resource in both technical and production planning meetings, and must be comfortable interacting with senior producers and supervisors. Must maintain an understanding of the company's needs, and the technical tools required to meet those needs. As the head of a support team, he or she must be very strong at technical problem solving. As many of the tools needed to keep the render farm running smoothly are written by the render support team, a programming background is a plus.
Required Skills:
Management and leadership ability
Communication ability
Strong Linux background
Experience with shell scripting
Strong problem solving ability
Fundamental understanding of visual effects production
Previous experience in render wrangling and/ or systems support at a VFX production company
Desired Skills:
Experience with Houdini, Maya, Prman and Shake
Programming experience with csh, bash, mel, perl, php, python and sql
Experience writing or debugging pipeline tools
