CGTalk - swap file for mr

is that the "swap file" command really help to reduce the rendering time??
i mean effectively(may be 20,30%,and not 2,3 %).

is that help to reduce the rendering crash as well?
any idea???

is that this command only work with mr standalone version,cause i try it with maya render command,and it din't support this command.
