Melissa 08-11-2005, 06:14 PM Is it customary for game art to average normals on a per vertex basis? I mean if i average the normals on my whole model i lose some definition in spots that need to be kept crisp. If i choose what areas to average, it looks right but is this acceptable for game art? sorry if this is very noob.

You can smooth/sharpen how you see fit..most engine support many many smoothing groups.
