View Full Version : WIP Lighthouse
beeglebug 08-11-2005, 12:44 PM My latest mini project to kick start my environment portfolio, a simple little lighthouse scene.
I've spent two hours on it so far, 1 blocking it out, and another stitching things together a bit and adding detail. I don't really know where i'm going with this, i'm making it up as I go along!
I think the next hour or so will be spent finishing up the mesh for the rocks, and slapping a texture on it, then starting to add detail to it in the form of tufts of grass etc.
C&C's welcome as usual.

I like what i'm seeing, i can't wait to you get textured it, maybe you should remove that little simple poly man.

I can't get rid of him! He's 'Mr Scale' :)
But seriously, he won;t be in the final product, he's just a tool I use. I drag him around the scene while I work to make sure everything is suitably sized for an average person. It helps me make sure doors, windows, railings and steps etc are all relatively correct.
Thanks for the positive comment though, i'll post another shot later, hopefully get a few hours in on it tonight before bed!

'Mr Scale' hahaha!
I cant get rid of mine either, and since its a mildy extruded pink box i geuss she must be Mrs Scale.
On a serious note, I dont know how i could make a level without one.

Well, it's been a slow week on the art front, but i've just managed to put a bit more time into this finally! I've got the main piece of land in now, and i've changed the base of the lighthouse around a bit to a more industrial design.
I'm going to put some time into the top part of the tower next, and then maybe do a bit of detail work or start the texturing.
Any comments or suggestions?

This is looking great - maybe some signs or a railing near that sort of cliff edge on the backside? I'd love to see some nice long dune grass around it! keep at it!
