How do you prefer doing the facial animation?
..morph/rig..

Show us some of your tips. Share your knowledge and ideas.
Tips, tutorials, links...etc.

When do you do the animation? Before or after the body?
How do you set up the rig?
Software?

Share what you have.

As a student myself, I need new ways to do this part of the animation.
I have only touched rigging. Used mainly morphtargets, but lately I have grown tired of the long hours, lack of freedom and unsatisfying results.

Thx for your contribution!

I personally do the facial stuff after i've animated....and I really like Jason Osipa's "Stop Staring". I just haven't modeled anything to use it on. However...going through the book and doing some of the exercises is great. There's alot of things that can go wrong in facial....leading a character with the eyes and brows or "jaw flapping". I listen to a clip over and over and over to find peaks and beats. Then I go through and animate the jaw...and then I animate the lips. I found it produces good results, but i've been limited myself to using morphs as well and it just doesn't feel "fleshy". Animating the cheeks and looking for arcs on things like the mouth corners are important as well...I wish Andrew Gordon would post his notes he shared with us at the CgChar meetup....it was extremely informative.
