We represent a high profile games company in San Diego, California that is looking for an experienced AI Programmer to work on an action RPG title. Applicants should be avid gamers and have experience interfacing with designers, artists and programmers as part of an internal development team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implementation of tactical and strategic AI behaviors.
Implementation of advanced path-finding algorithms.
Character movement and strategy AI for game play scenarios.
Work with lead designer to determine the feasibility of AI features and to make them easily modifiable by designers.
Develop editor tools for designers to implement game design related to character AI.
Research and implementation of core character simulation and artificial intelligence.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong experience with C++ and STL.
Experienced in designing and implementing character AI systems in games.
Strong object-oriented design skills.
Strong understanding of 3D math.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices.
Knowledgeable in AI algorithms.
Extensive knowledge of AI techniques: Path-finding/navigation, perception, scripting, control mechanisms, expert systems, emergent behaviors, flocking, rule-based systems, fuzzy logic, etc.
Very strong research, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to draw clear distinctions between what is academic and what is practical.
Proven ability to work closely with designers.
