Looking forward to get some 64bit machines with mr standalone on linux, is there anyone who has experience or any hints, problems a.s.o. ?

It works fine, but the thing is it's really a waste of money unless your already hitting the memory ceiling of 32 bit processors/operating systems. It costs 2x the price of the 32 bit version.

at first, thanks for your replies.

the problem is following:

we are working with very large data (car visualisation, exterior and interior), so the limit of our dual xeon, 4gb ram and everything else "high-end" 32bit, is reached. runtime errrors, memeory exceptions daily...

today they arrived, finaly!
we will make them ready soon, so we hope to be able to work with them this evening.
but i am afraid that compiling the scenes for 64bit mr standalone will take too long. there is a deadline (20th august) we have to match...

so, do you have any experience compiling and rendering on 64bit?

thanks in advance!

Then your perfect for the 64 bit version. Sorry, a lot of people around cgtalk always looking to use stuff that they have no need to use (crap like people just starting to touch maya and they already want to use Prman).

Have you used the standalone before? It is slow and in the past the exporter has been buggy. It really depends what your rendering.

Here are a few really cool tools for submitting renders to the standalone from inside the maya gui:
