View Full Version : M4A1 Help
Aleoxide 08-10-2005, 12:10 AM Hey I'm modeling this M4A1 so that I can put him on a soldier. I was having trouble with a couple spots on the gun, and I was wondering if some of you could put in some suggestions on how to model it. I dont know how to do the parts circled in red. Help would be very much apprechated. Thanks for your time.

As for the detail on the side of the gun, those are cylinders with flat ends. The ends are supposed to be rounder...

Hi,
Look I'm no guru but if it were me I would try a couple of options first I would start by poly modeling and extruding. Make the first part of the fore sight then extrude up etc etc. If that didn't work you could try line / spline modelling the parts.
Just trace around it get the verts where u want em' then either extrude the line or convert it to a editable poly and go from there.
Another option might be to create the basic shape, cut the lines in to that using the cut tool, delete the faces and create the new polys.
Hope it helps. I always find that if I try a method and it doesn't work for me I just start again with a different method. Just try not to get to bogged down with one particular method especially if its giving you alot of grief.
Hope it helps
